October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and we've partnered with The National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc.® again this year to raise awareness for this important cause.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail. After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34, she realized there was little information about the disease. After receiving treatment, Janelle committed to helping "women around the world by educating them about breast cancer and the importance of early detection."
According to the NBCF, 1 in 8 women will face a breast cancer diagnosis in her lifetime. If you are one of the eight women who is not forced to confront this life-changing diagnosis, chances are someone you care about will be impacted at some point during their lives.
NBCF's mission is to provide help and hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education and support services. Since there is not yet a cure for breast cancer, our best chances lie in education, early detection, and early diagnosis. Receiving early treatment is critical to breast cancer patient's survival. NBCF offers mammograms at no cost to women in all 50 states since the high price of screening tests can place a severe financial burden on many women and their families.
The National Breast Cancer Foundation also supports affected women and their families after their diagnoses. From diagnosis to recovery, the NBCF provides services and support to women as they fight breast cancer. The National Breast Cancer Foundation focuses a lot of energy on educating women so that they can be informed, proactive, and successful in their individual and our shared fight against breast cancer.
Fighting cancer is a team effort. The NBCF helps women stay hopeful and reminds them that they are not alone. The Lovepop team has personal experience with breast cancer and understands the impact of The National Breast Cancer Foundation's inspiring mission. Please join us in raising awareness for breast cancer year round.
